Dear Morocco Families,
We are so glad you are here. As a part of the North Newton School Corporation, we adhere to high standards and expectations. We offer opportunities for students to explore through their learning and see the relevance of what they are doing. We continuously use data to make decisions on student progress and encourage students to share their learning opportunities with their families.
Our teachers and staff build positive relationships with our students and families. They send home newsletters, use ClassDojo, email, and make calls to make sure families know what is happening in class. We also prioritize using best instructional practices to meet students where they are and to take them where they can go. Along with assisting them to be the best versions of themselves, we value attendance at school. We miss them when they are not at school! They cannot learn if they are not here, so we want them in attendance daily, unless of course, they are ill.
We are preparing all students for success in an ever-changing world. We have high expectations that students will be successful academically but will also be responsible, respectful, compassionate, and be able to communicate effectively. To help students do this, we offer a variety of supports such as Title I services, Response to Intervention, High Ability programming, and a Social Emotional Learning tool called Second Steps.
We also have opportunities for our older students to participate in various extracurricular activities. Student Council holds a lot of activities for our students while also doing a lot for our community. Teams of students participate in Spell Bowl, Math Bowl, and Science Bowl. We are in the planning stages to have a Robotics team this coming school year. Additionally, our sixth graders have the opportunity to participate in band and choir. Our PTO is made up of parents and teachers who work together to offer activities for our students. Their support is highly valued and appreciated, and I encourage you to join!
We know that everyone is concerned about what this fall may be like with returning to school. I want to let you know that we take student safety very seriously and are working with the local health department to make sure we are able to keep everyone safe to the best of our ability. I am so happy to be the principal of Morocco Elementary and look forward to a terrific school year!
